About Cactus Corner
Under the shadow of a 50 foot steel cactus, in the spring of 1999, Cactus Corner TruckStop opened their doors.
Looking for a new opportunity, Rea James and his partner Murray Tolton embarked on a new adventure and the result was Cactus Corner.
Located east of Hanna, Alberta at the junction of Highway 9 and Highway 36 South, Cactus Corner was constructed and is operated by local entrepreneurs.
Highway 36 is the wide load, high load, and heavy haul highway leading from the US border to the rich oil deposits near Fort McMurray. Highway 9 is the main corridor connecting Calgary and Saskatoon SK. This area is the center of the Alberta ranch country with miles of wide open prairie greeting travelers. The weather is rather arid which creates some high quality vegetation for the cattle industry.
Considering there are few stopping points for commercial or light vehicle traffic, this Shell Pilot Flying J site provides a welcome relief for weary travelers. Cactus Corner accommodates travelers looking for a quick stop, first-rate meal, or the ability to relax for the night in our huge 100+ truck parking lot. Cactus Corner hosts a large convenience store, café, commercial, retail and wholesale bulk fuels, Shell lubricants and truck wash.
Customers visiting the convenience store will find hot deli, fresh sandwiches/subs made daily, snacks and refreshments, children's travel activity items, truck accessories, ATM, laundry, clean showers, and Driver's Kiosk.
The Cactus Corner Café offers an extensive menu of Western cuisine that includes soups, entrees and desserts. As well as a Lounge.
Cactus Corner TruckStop and Café employs between 45-50 people which is a significant boost to the local economy. If you are interested in joining the Cactus Crew please see our Careers page on the website.
Cactus Corner's goal is to provide travelers with as many services as possible to make that long trip seem a little shorter.
